Justin and Angel had the most beautiful wedding at Round Barn Ranch in Derby, Kansas. It was an extra special wedding for me to document as well! Justin is the brother of my good friend, Janel. She passed away in 2012 and to be able to photograph her brother’s wedding felt like a got a little piece of my friend back.

The day itself was a typical hot summer day. Thankfully, the sun lowered behind the trees in time for the ceremony so the rest of the evening had perfect weather. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, look into Round Barn Ranch in Derby. There is a perfect outdoor ceremony spot where the sun dips behind the trees. Sunset lighting coming through the leaves in the trees is my favorite kind of lighting. It allows for a beautiful pop of color since the sun doesn’t wash out details, but also gives you the romantic sunset feel. A perfect spot for a ceremony.

Angel started the day getting ready at Hotel at Old Town in Wichita, KS. This historic hotel has great light for getting ready photos. It also has vintage decorations that make unique additions to detail photos. When you are getting ready for your wedding at this hotel, they make sure to put you in a corner room so you get the most light and have enough space for everyone to be gathered in while getting ready.

There were special moments throughout the entire day, but my favorite moments happened during the reception. Justin’s dad sang their first dance song, actually sang it. In front of the whole crowd. It was so so special. And in place of the father/daughter dance, Angel shared dances with her mom, sister, niece and brother. It was such an emotion moment.
