It's easy to get caught up in the logistics of wedding planning and forget that you're going to live this day. Your experience matters.
My goal as your photographer is to bring you back into the moment. My approach gives you space to be present, to live your day instead of posing for it. I'm here to document your wedding in a way that honors your experience, so when you look back, you remember not just how it looked but how it felt.
As your photographer, I could walk into a room and decide things need to change to make the photos look “better.” I could interrupt the moment you give your mom a gift in order to move you to the window for better light. Or throw away the Dr. Pepper can you’re sipping from because I decided the photos look cluttered. But that isn’t truth. The other option is to accept the room, the light, and the people exactly as they are; and use my experience to work with them so your moments unfold naturally. Documentary photography means honoring your day as it truly happens, without judging what I see, without rearranging or filtering it to fit an idea of perfection.
Acceptance Over Judgment
Choosing truth over perfection means letting the day unfold as it is, without forcing it to look any certain way. It’s capturing your grandma tearing up during your vows, even if her hair is windblown. It’s photographing discarded high heels and the way you and your best friend dance like no one’s watching. It’s documenting your “oh my god we’re married” moment even though it’s happening in a dark room. These are the memories you’ll cherish. My job is to document your wedding as it really happens. Not to stage it, not to smooth it over, but to preserve the truth of your day so that years from now, you can feel it all over again.
Truth Over Perfection
Being in front of a camera can feel uncomfortable because there is an expectation placed on it. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be Instagram worthy. We're expected to look and act a certain way in order to take a "good photo." I'm here to tell you that you are worthy of being documented as you are, no performance required. I do not need anything from you, you are exactly enough. If you want to be released from the performance of a good photo, if you would rather live your wedding day than pose for it, documentary photography is for you.
