Kelsie and Alex had their beautiful wedding ceremony at Union 828 in Kansas City. May 30 was the original wedding date, but COVID had other plans. So they moved to July 31, cut their guest list to immediate family, and it was a perfect day.
The Grillos enjoy traveling together, their original honeymoon plans included multiple countries in Europe! So it was perfectly fitting for their wedding theme to be travel. Perfect details including the globe guest book, the map welcome sign, the atlas vow books. The real gem was a postcard Kelsie found that her grandparents sent when they visited Alex’s family’s home country way before Kelsie and Alex ever met. How cool is that?
The day itself was short. Kelsie and Alex shared a first look on the roof of Union 828, which has a perfect view of Kansas City. Absolutely picturesque. We then moved into the ceremony, with just immediate family present. I know a lot of couples are struggling with letting go of the traditional wedding plans amid COVID, but if photographing weddings during a pandemic has taught me anything it’s that your wedding day will be perfect no matter what. At the end of the day, you’ll be married to your best friend and what could be better than that?
After the ceremony, friends stopped by to congratulate the newly weds before we took photos around the city. Once we finished portraits, we rejoined their family in Union 828’s “speakeasy” downstairs where everyone ate pizza and cheers-ed the couple with Corona – a fitting end to the day.
