Abby and Colby had a beautiful wedding at The Brim KC in December. The Brim is a gorgeous, all white venue with walls of windows. Those walls can open up to make the space an indoor/outdoor space. They also have a large bell in a tower that you can ring as you walk out after being married.

Abby and Colby had their ceremony at The Brim KC, and their reception at the airport Marriott where Colby’s mom works. The hotel has a pavilion in the back, right up against the water. We started the day getting ready at the hotel. The getting ready was very laid back. Abby’s bridesmaid did her makeup, and Abby helped everyone get dressed and put their shoes on.

Abby and Colby chose to wait to see each other until the ceremony and Colby’s reaction to seeing his wife was so sweet. When they walked out of the ceremony, they got to ring the bell at The Brim. The staff said The Brim KC weddings always end in the coolest way with that bell.

The reception was eventful. Abby accidentally caught her hair on fire. It didn’t last long but it was enough to make the room smell like burnt hair for a bit. So crazy! Her grandma absolutely killed it on the dance floor.

During the shoe game, I noticed handwriting on the bottom of Colby’s shoes. His grandma died and they took her handwriting and put I love you on his shoes so she could be with him as he walked down the aisle. If you’re ever wondering about ways to honor your loved ones at your wedding, this was one of the cutest ideas I’ve seen.
