When planning engagement sessions, I always encourage my couples to think about what they like to do together, even if it’s just hanging at home, and let that be the main focus of their session. I’m not saying don’t get the cute posed photos, everyone needs cutesy photos in their life. But let the focus be on who you are together instead of what Instagram tells you to do. You’ll appreciate the time you get to spend together, and the photos mean a whole lot more. In home engagement sessions are some of my favorites to photograph!
Imagine how cool it would be to look back at these photos with your grandkids. You could show them how you used to spend your time together, what the world used to look like when you were younger. (Like how we look at photos from the 90’s.) They’d become a legacy to pass down for generations, just like your wedding photos. And honestly, who cares if 25 years from now they mock us for our current style.
Brooke and Joe chose to get their cutesy photos at The Liberty Memorial, then scoot over to a local coffee shop that they visited while looking for their wedding venue. We ended at their home so they could have photos with their cat in the first home they’ll live in together as husband and wife.
