Rule number 1 when working with animals: be extra patient. Especially during this sweet engagement session with horses!
I have worked with horses, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rats, you name it. And every time, it requires all kinds of patience, and being prepared for the 2 seconds where they behave just how you need them to behave.
Last night was no different. The majority of the session, both Julio (left) and Mike (right) were super well-behaved and chill. But Mike got the chance to be free and boy did he take it! He’s rebellious at heart, with loads of personality, and it took a good 10 minutes for Isabella and Austin to snag him and bring him back.
We all just laughed it off and made sure Mike didn’t get a second chance to run off. If you’re planning to include your fur baby in your photos, just remember to give them grace and have patience. And it never hurts to bring a friend to wrangle them for you.
Isabella and Austin absolutely love their horses. Isabella has been riding since she was a little girl, horses have been a huge part of her life and when her and Austin started dating it became a huge part of his life as well.
So obviously we did their engagement session where they feel most at home, with their horses.
This was the second time I had the chance to work at C-Arrow Stables in Maize, Kansas. I photographed a wedding there over summer, 2019.
Whether you plan to have an engagement session with horses or just humans, I’d love to capture it! Click here to get started! I’m also always sharing what I’m up to on Instagram, so feel free to follow along!
