Emily and Grant had their wedding at The Martin. It is a cute space that is in south Kansas City. There is a patio which can be used for the ceremony. Or, if it’s a rainy day like Emily and Grant’s was, you can have your ceremony inside. Their wedding at The Martin was a really fun party. We had to work with the spotty rain, it made us change some of our plans. But that’s how rainy days go, you have to be able to work with the clear spots in the day. Luckily, those clear spots mostly worked for us, even though we had to rearrange the schedule a bit.

Emily and Grant got my larger package, which included coverage for an extra event. They chose to have me come photograph their rehearsal dinner. Emily and Grant have a family connection to the owners to Pot Pie in Kansas City. So they reserved the whole restaurant and got to have their closest friends and family join them for dinner.

Emily wanted to have their first look on the patio at the back of the venue, but the rain had other plans for us. We tried to wait it out but it was going to put us too far behind to keep waiting, so we moved the first look to the front of the venue where we’d be protected from the rain. Of course, right as we finished their first look the rain let up. So we did the rest of the phots on the patio.
