Kylie and Stuarts winter wedding at Mildale Farm was beautiful. They put a lot of focus on family. The wedding party was made up of Stuart’s brothers and their significant others. Something that many people don’t really consider when choosing wedding party members is whether those people will still be in your life throughout your marriage. We often choose our friends, but those friends don’t always stick around for the long haul. So when Kylie told me they were only having family members in their wedding party, I was really happy for them. They had the most important people stand with them on their wedding day. People who will always stand with them.
Kylie was pretty nervous during the day. She is not someone who enjoys public attention, and a wedding is designed for the couple to be the center of attention the whole day. If you are also a socially anxious person (hello, welcome to the club), I would encourage you to keep your limits in mind for your wedding day. I was surprised and excited to hear that Kylie and Stuart were going to read personal vows to each other, that’s usually something us anxious folk shy away from. I know it made Kylie more nervous, but she did really well anyways.
During their reception, Kylie’s dad gave the best wedding speech I have heard. And I’ve been to a lot of weddings so that’s saying something. He started out the speech by telling a story of how Kylie convinced him to let her get a tattoo before she turned 18-years-old. She played on his sentimental heart strings. He talked about how he has a shelf in his office where he displays art work and things his kids have made in their lives. And he wanted to display Kylie’s first signature with her new last name.
So he gave her a piece of paper to sign, she and Stuart signed it. Turns out that paper was a contract that said they will spend every thanksgiving with her family, every 3rd christmas with his family, future kids will spend 30% of time with his parents and 70% with hers. They will name their first born after him. They will have a house with enough space for Kylie’s parents to have large and private living quarters when they reach old age. It was truly hilarious and I applaud the creativity. Speeches don’t usually stick in my mind but his has.
Mildale Farm is a beautiful location for a winter wedding!
