Madison and Drew tied the knot in April at Flander Hall in Excelsior Springs, MO. They chose to have a mostly documentary style day, no group or family photos. They wanted to enjoy their day and let the photos tell the true story. The guest list had been trimmed down due to COVID, though I suspect they had no qualms about it as it allowed only their closest loved ones to be in attendance. The day itself was perfect for the two of them, very laid back and simple.
This taco bar by Katie’s Catering was a huge hit. Madison left a glowing review in the Kansas City Wedding Swap Facebook group:
“We did a Taco Bar for dinner, and had a Queso fountain/ Nacho Bar for our cocktail hour. Our guest complimented the food all night! We also did a dessert bar and people LOVED IT. The staff that attended and worked the wedding were extremely friendly, and were very accommodating to our evening moving faster than originally planned.” – Madison
The dessert bar was amazing. They were setting it up while guests were arriving for the wedding and everyone had a hard time taking their eyes off the delicious looking desserts, myself included.
Drew’s reaction to seeing Madison during their first look was priceless.
Drew was late to the first look, his nerves got the best of him and set him behind on getting ready. Madison was sitting around waiting for him for awhile, probably at least 30 minutes. She was sure to give him a hard time about it. Their playful banter was fun to eavesdrop on!
Flander Hall in Excelsior Springs has three floors, each unique and you won’t find anything else like it. The building is historic but beautifully renovated in a way that holds all the charm.
Ever helpful Drew gluing Madison’s nail back on before the ceremony.
Levity Events did a great job with getting everyone out on the dance floor. Madison left him a glowing review also:
“Brandon was great to work with! We met with him a few days before the wedding to finalize playlists, go over small details, and just get to know each other! The day of the wedding he was there early, and was so helpful- even before the ceremony began!! Throughout the night he continued to check on my husband and I, making sure we had enough to eat and drink. When we realized our night was moving faster than we thought it would, Brandon helped us move our timeline around and made everything transition smoothly! He kept the party going, there were never any awkward silences, and he read our crowd so well! I would highly recommend!”
Working with Drew and Madison was a dream and I’m forever thankful they trusted me to document their day.
“I could probably write you a book on why you should hire Caitlyn as your photographer. From our very first email, to just last night when she sent us our gallery, she has been the kindest, most genuine person. She took the time to get know us both, listened to our concerns (I’ve never felt like I was photogenic and have always HATED having my picture taken) and offered so much advice to us. She is a true gem, and you can see how much pride she takes in her work. If you’re looking for a photographer that’s going to make you feel incredible, and become a friend, I would highly suggest you hire her!” – Madison
Flander Hall in Excelsior Springs is a beautiful and unique venue for a wedding. Check out this wedding I photographed there in January of 2020.
