As a Kansas City Engagement Photographer, most of my couples choose to go to a park or nature center of some kind for their session. Nature has been and always will be my favorite location for photos, but sometimes it’s fun to venture out of my norm. This laundromat session was SO much fun! I have some other ideas in the works for locations that aren’t nature spots, so if you need some inspiration be sure to keep up with my blog!

If you’re wanting to do your own laundromat session, here’s some tips:
• Find a decent sized space – unless you go at the crack of dawn or super late at night, you’re going to be sharing the space with people who are doing their laundry. Make sure you pick a laundromat that has enough space so the people doing their laundry aren’t interrupted by your photo session.
• Get management approval – don’t just walk in and start shooting, make sure you ask the manager if it’s okay before you even get there for your session. You don’t want to get kicked out in the middle of your session, that’d be a smidge embarrassing.
• Embrace the look and feel of the laundromat – no laundromat is going to be picture perfect, but that’s the whole point. I mean this laundromat had a huge “Free Wifi” sign right where we were shooting, which isn’t ideal, but I honestly like the look of it now. I’ve always preferred to embrace the look of where ever I’m shooting rather than editing it to look completely different.
• Have FUN – obviously this goes for every session, anywhere! But especially in unique places like this, the more fun you have with it the cuter the photos will be!
